100+ things...

I figured it was about time I got to this, so here goes...

1. I was born March 13, 1980 in Louisiana.
2. I have one younger brother who is 7 years, six months, two weeks, and one day younger than me.
3. My name has been legally changed.
4. I was baptized Catholic.
5. I was confirmed Methodist.
6. I am, and always have been, an atheist.
7. That said, I find religion fascinating.
8. I had an appendectomy when I was 12. The doctors estimated that my appendix had ruptured 6 days before I had the surgery. Yes, I *am* a medical miracle.
9. I had a fantastic surgeon who managed to still perform laparascopic surgery despite having to "explore" my abdominal cavity to "find my appendix" (they had still not figured out it ruptured at this point - dumbasses), so I have only 3 tiny scars.
10. I've never broken a bone, but I wore a cast on my left foot for several months as a baby b/c I was born with a crooked, C-shaped foot.
11. I have been a vegetarian since the end of my senior year of high school.
12. I love the smell of bacon and sausage and peppers.
13. I had my first "boyfriend" when I was 15. He was a 17-year-old with a car. Our first date was to see Bio-Dome - no joke, the Pauly Shore movie. We dated for a week.
14. When I was a sophomore, I was asked to go to the junior prom by a guy I had a serious crush on. He dumped me a week before the prom (and 4 days before my birthday).
15. I have had three four serious boyfriends in my post-high school life.
16. I was on the Math Team and Knowledge Bowl Team in high school. I even got to go to the State Math Meet as a junior.
17. I was on the volleyball and track teams in high school.
18. I was also on the volleyball and track teams in college (Division III).
19. I have run two three 5Ks.
20. I was a math major in college. I tried very, very hard not to be, but I like it and I'm good at it, so I got sucked in. I graduated with honors and my thesis rocks! :-)
21. I was a philosophy minor and I won the philosophy award at my school senior year and every professor in the department that I had loved me.
22. My Philosophy of Religion professor saved my papers for last to "read for pleasure" (I heard no end of mocking for that one).
23. I also was an "undeclared history minor." Undeclared b/c I met all the requirements, but never got my butt over to the registrar to fill out the paperwork.
24. I am obsessed with food, as is obvious from many, many of my posts. I love both cooking and eating out, collecting cookbooks, and watching the Food Network religiously.
25. I'm from upstate New York, but not really because it's actually pretty far south in the state. But, it's above Westchester, which is apparently the dividing line for all out-of-staters.
26. I came to D.C. for law school and plan to stay for a good, long while.
27. I say OR-ange, h-ORR-ible, and Fl-OR-ida, not AH-range, HAH-rrible, and Fl-AH-rida. I also say elemen-TREE, not elemen-TAIRY. In my opinion, I say orange, horrible, and Florida the "right" way and elementary the "wrong" way. My mom says them all the wrong way.
28. It's soda, not pop. Although I am now very aware of saying "soda" when I never was before.
29. My favorite pizza toppings are pineapple, jalapenos, and onions. All at once.
30. I actually like the taste of coffee - not just the caffeine. My mom let me have coffee even when I was a little kid (half milk, though).
31. I voted for the first time in 2004, although I have been registered to vote since I was 18. I filled out an absentee ballot for the 2000 election but forgot to send it in. I am a bad citizen.
32. When I was about 10, I thought it would be really cool to have a baby when I was 16. Then I got older and realized that was a bad idea.
33. I have strawberry-blonde hair. I have been told it is "unique" and that women pay hundreds of dollars for hair my color. My hair is also very, very straight. This is both a blessing and a curse - I never have to straighten it and I don't even have to blow-dry it if I don't want to, but curling my hair is very difficult.
34. Until I was about 4, my hair was RED. And not just orangey-red, but a really beautiful, almost dark, red.
35. I have had glasses since I was 8 and contacts since I was 12.
36. I had all my wisdom teeth taken out while I was in high school.
37. I am a "Mono Mary" - two guys I dated had mono and I never got it.
38. My two best friends from elementary school moved away when I was 10 and 11. I Google them occasionally, with no luck, to try to regain contact.
39. I am still very close with my circle of friends from middle/high school and I know that they will always be in my life, even if we barely get to see each other anymore.
40. I am not very close with my college friends anymore, which makes me sad, especially b/c they pretty much all live near each other and still get to see each other.
41. I have a tattoo of a butterfly on my lower back. I hate that now my tattoo is unoriginal and cliche - I swear when I got mine 6 years ago that no one else I knew had a butterfly tattoo. Now everyone and her sorority sister has one.
42. I have a Mickey Mouse/flower/balloons shaped birthmark on my left shin.
43.I am very good at parallel parking.
44.I "melted" a car when I was 18. Really, the broken fuel line "melted" it, but I was driving it when it caught fire.
45. I worked at Old Navy for one Christmas season in college. I hate working retail and will not do it again. (I hope.)
46. I was really afraid of shots and needles as a little kid and once ran screaming from the doctor's office and several people had to hold me down. Then I was in the hospital for the appendectomy and had to have my blood drawn twice a day, so I stopped being afraid anymore.
47. Then, when I was getting my final check-up and shots before college, the nurse forgot to give me one and had to call me back into the room. She didn't tell me that was what she was doing, so I wasn't prepared for it and I watched. I went back out to the waiting room to see my mom and promptly fainted - in front of a roomful of scared little kids at the pediatrician's office.
48. I am now afraid of needles again... or, more accurately, I am afraid of fainting again. Which makes me faint, or almost faint, whenever I have to have blood drawn.
49. I was not at all faint or scared when I got my tattoo though - I guess when it's my choice, it's easier to deal with.
50. I also have a fear of knives. I hate watching other people cut or chop things. I am not afraid when I use them though.
51. For this reason, I cannot watch stupid slasher movies. The Shining, Silence of the Lambs... piece of cake. I Know What You Did Last Summer... could. not. watch. Damn hook!
52. I came to law school to change the world. Seriously. I don't care about the money in the industry at all (although it is a nice perk!).
53. I always need to sleep with a big comforter or blanket. But, I like it to be cold when I sleep, so I turn the heater off (or AC really high, depending on the season) whenever I go to bed.
54. I toss and turn a A LOT in my sleep, and it takes me forever to get comfortable. I apologize to anyone who has had to share a bed or room with me.
55. I am more a morning person than a night person.
56. I was really good at Beirut in college.
57. I did not puke from drinking until my junior year of college. And I rallied. I'm awesome.
58. I also did not get hangovers while I was in college, although I drank A LOT.
59. My 21st birthday was was in the middle of finals so I didn't get to be all crazy, but my friends brought over beer and St. Patty's Day cupcakes. I did not get any of the cupcakes, however, b/c my ex-boyfriend ate the last one.
60. I did about five shots of 151 on my 21st birthday. My friend wanted me to do flaming shots, but I kept blowing out the flames right before I did them - I could not help it. It made the shotglass really fucking hot and I burned my lips and tongue pretty bad.
61. I had a chalked ID until I was 21. NY licenses rock that way.
62. I did gymnastics from when I was eight until I was twelve.
63. I had to miss my final gymnastics meet, where we got to design all our own routines, because of that damn appendectomy.
64. I seriously would like to take adult gymnastics classes if I can find a place that offers them. (That just sounds dirty, but I swear I don't mean it like that.)
65. Foreign countries I have been to: Italy, England, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Caymen Islands. (Last four as part of one cruise.)
66. I did not become political (or at least acknowledge or understand my politics) until I came to law school. Now, I recognize that I am a full-fledged liberal.
67. I was a member of five honor societies in high school and I am now a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
68. I am very good at charcoal, pastel, and ink renditions of photographs. That is pretty much as far as my artistic talent goes.
69. I hate winter and cold, but I love falling snow. Fall is my favorite season, especially in upstate NY.
70. I do not like apple juice or grape juice, or orange juice with any pulp. I really, really hate anything that tastes like fake grape or fake peach.
71. I do not really have any real favorites - my "favorites" are very mood-specific. Or maybe I'm just indecisive.
72. I actually like vegetables. A lot. I have always liked them, even as a kid. But, I do not like mushrooms (not really a vegetable), olives (which I believe are technically a fruit), or turnips.
73. I do not like gin. Vodka is okay. I love rum. I can drink it straight, or with just a little coke, and I can drink a lot of it. For these reasons, I try to avoid rum... I get very, very drunk and I have had some very bad experiences after drinking lots and lots of it.
74. I do not hold pens and pencils properly when I write.
75. I cross my Zs but not my 7s.
76. My middle name is my mom's first name.
77. I went to the same high school as Matt Morris and the guys from American Chopper.
78. I am not superstituous, except when it comes to sporting events. Then it gets the better of me. I will do all sorts of things to try to affect the outcome of a game from the sidelines, stands, or the couch.
79. I am a HUGE Mets fan. And a big baseball fan in general... I can even watch it on television and not find it boring!
80. I am very shy around strangers and find it difficult to meet new people or be social in an unfamiliar setting. I am easily forgettable if you do not get to know me and I also tend to blend into the woodwork.
81. My (now ex-, but still good friend)boyfriend had to meet me at least 3 times before it "stuck," even though we sat one seat apart from each other in a 15 person class and had a separate conversation one night on my middle name.
82. Once I get to know you, I am fun, flirty, silly, crazy, and sometimes loud.
83. My closest friends are girls and I would never be able to survive without them. I need my girlfriends to keep me sane and to have those conversations you just cannot have with guys.
84. That said, I find it much easier to become friends with guys than girls and I think that in many situations, guys are more fun to hang out with.
85. Guys like to include me in their group of male friends b/c of my knowledge of sports, especially baseball, and my ability to drink. Also, b/c I am not too bad to look at and keeping a girl around helps to dissuade their homosexual fears. :-)
86. I like to eat lemons.
87. I worked as a gift-basket maker for 3 holiday seasons during college. My boss let us work as many hours as we wanted, so I made shit-loads of money.
88. I was a Big Sister for a year, until my Little Sister moved away. Without her or her mother telling me, no less.
89. My favorite kind of Girl Scout cookies are the Samoas (a.k.a. Caramel deLites).
90. I love ice cream, especially any coffee-based kind or chocolate/mint combo.
91. I also love cheese. All kinds.
92. I have known all four of my grandparents and two of my great-grandmothers. My dad's grandmother still lives on her own at age 94.
93. I look a lot like my maternal grandmother did when she was younger, except about a half a foot taller and a bit skinnier.
94. I can't find a single feature that I did not get from my mom's side of the family.
95. I think my three best physical features are: my legs, my eyes, my hair.
96. I think my three worst physical features are: my gigantic ribs, my tummy, and my fingernails that always chip and peel.
97. When I stand, my knees bend backwards. Standing with my knees bent like a normal person feels very weird and unbalanced to me.
98. I have suffered with severe bouts of depression and anxiety, on and off, since I was fifteen.
99. When I was seven, I had just seven freckles on my nose. I now get lots of freckles on my shoulders and face during the summer and I like them a lot.
100. I am just awesome at Tetris.
101. I don't like elbow macaroni and cheese - it has to be shells or twists, and preferably with petite peas mixed in. I like the color.
101. I make really good vegetarian chili. My roommates and I made up the recipe in college and it's good.
102. I like yellow roses better than red, especially the yellow roses with the pinky coral edges. Red roses are cliche.
103. I really like flying. I think if this whole lawyer thing doesn't work out, I may be a flight attendant for a few years, just to get to see some new places.
104. I had never been to a Starbucks until I moved to DC. Now I go several times a week. (I now think Caribou Coffee is much better, but I tend to go to whichever is more convenient.)
105. Chris Farley stood behind me when I was lining up for NYC's St. Patty's Day parade and I missed it. How? I have no idea.
106. I like wearing colorful socks.
107. I also like wearing colorful sneakers. I have an orange pair, a blue pair, a red pair, a grey pair, and a yellow-tan pair.
108. I am 1/2 Polish, 1/4 Dutch, 1/8 Irish, and 1/8 English.
109. I rarely paint my fingernails. My toenails are almost always painted some wacky color.
110. I know pretty much every line to every episode of Friends. Especially the early ones.
111. I was a day camp counselor for four years.
112. I type better when I don't look down at the keys than when I do. But I still do at times... I don't know why.
113. I've seen Bon Jovi in concert. The ultimate 80s child experience.
114. I wish I read more, but I have never been able to tell whether or not I am going to like a book so I can never pick one to read. I am very excited for the new Harry Potter to come out, though.
115. I always want things to be very clean and neat, yet I am not any good at keeping them that way.
116. I hate when I misspell things and I will even go back and correct posts months later if I happen to discover I misspelled something.
117. I ran naked around a building on my college campus. On multiple occasions. (It's a school tradition... well, to do it once.)
118. I like lists. A lot. If I do not stop this one now, it will go on indefinitely.

Comments:

Reasons why I am wondering if you are my long-lost twin:

30, 33 (my hair's not that color, but it's straight and WILL NOT be curled), 48-50, 80, 82-86, 97, 102, 109, 117 (only the once, and it was a whole mile!), 118.

Maybe that's not that many things, but they're enough to convince me:)

You should know that I also cross my Zs, but not my 7s.
