I finally managed to get to the inspection station... now the only things left to do are (a) get DC car insurance and (b) go register my car. And it only took me 11 months to do it! :-)
(Shhh... it was supposed to be done months ago... I just couldn't really afford all the fees back then.)
And, I only got a little bit lost on the way there, and it totally wasn't my fault! I had bad directions, which were waaaaay more complicated than they needed to be considering how easy it was to get home and considering they had me get off at an exit that did not exist!! But you can't really get lost when you are in the middle of the city since you are in the middle of an easy-to-decipher grid, so even though I got off some totally random exit in Anacostia (yikes!), I made my way to the inspection station quite easily from there just because I know my ABCs and 123s.
(If only the whole world was on a grid of streets... life would be so much easier!)
So, I should get my car totally switched over this weekend. Just in time to move somewhere else in a few months. Figures. Maybe I'll at least stay in the District so I don't have to do anything but get a new license.
I feel like such an adult taking care of all of this. Next task in adulthood... choose a health insurance plan!!! (If anyone has any ideas as to how one goes about choosing between all the options, please let me know.)
