Where Would You Go?

Bex asked: "if money were no object, what are the top three destinations you would like to travel to, and why?"

My true top three of the moment are probably not the sort of ideas Bex is looking for... I'd say Buffalo, San Diego, and Seattle, so that I can visit three of my favorite girls who I almost never get to see anymore. (Including Sarah B., who I think I haven't seen in almost three years?!?! Is that possibly right?) I'd also throw in NYC for good measure so I could see all my friends who live there, but I get to see them more often.

So, we'll pretend that I somehow manage to save up enough money to see those girls on my own and I can use the three all-expenses paid, money-is-no-object vacations for other trips. My first choice would have to be the very vague destination of "Europe." I've only been to Italy, London, and southern England, but I'd definitely go back to all those places again. But, I'd also like to visit some new places... so maybe I'd do some sort of multi-country tour? I definitely see visiting Europe as a sort of interactive history lesson rather than a trip for relaxation. If I'm just going to go to the beach or a mountain resort to lie around, I can do that here. (Not that I have anything against those sort of vacations... see choice #2.)

I think my second choice would be Hawaii. I think that would be more of a relaxation trip than a culture/touring sort of trip. I've always wanted to hike a volcano, but other than that I think I'll spend most of my time relaxing on the beach with a yummy drink in my hand, or perhaps at a spa.

In theory, my third choice would be something more exotic, like an African safari or something like that. But honestly, I've never done any research on those sort of trips so I can't really say where I'd go. I also have a free place to stay in the Virgin Islands (which sort of defeats the whole "money is no object" thing, but it's still not cheap to get down there). I also really want to go to Vancouver. And on another cruise.

Well, at least my indecisiveness gets you even more vacation ideas. :-)

Interesting...

I have been to San Diego, and it is gorgeous.

Seattle IS on my list of places I want to go...

Buffalo...not so much :)

Europe...I fell in love with Europe on this last trip...If the rest of Europe is anything like Italy, and we get another Republican president in 2008, I could most definitely see myself moving there...

Hawaii is actually on the short list for my next vacation...along with Belize...

Respectable choices my dear :)

I'd spend a month in Paris. Granted, I've been there twice before but that doesn't mean I can't go back!

It sounds like we could definitely travel together. You named spots I want to visit and re-visit.
