I am constantly harassed asked about why I have not decorated my office yet, even though I've been here sixth months. Truthfully, I have ZERO money (don't these people know where I work?), but assuming I could scrounge up maybe $30 to put towards decorating my office, I still don't know where to start. This is where you guys come in... what sort of things do you have in your office? What have you seen in other people's offices that you like? If you only had $30 to contribute to office decorating, where would you start? To give you an idea, I have what I would guess is a 12'X12' office (although I am terrible at guestimating measurements) with grey walls, one wall is windows for the top 2/3 and opposite the windows is the wall with the door. As for furniture, I have my desk and chair, another chair facing my desk, and a tall bookcase. There's also a window sill. I don't like having my desk too cluttered.

Okay guys... help a girl out! Thanks!

Honestly, if you have one nearby, hit an Ikea. You can't go wrong with Ikea and they have tons of great stuff and it's cheap!

The offices at my work aren't too decorated...maybe a framed picture on the wall that you like? (I second the IKEA...they have great framed pictures for VERY reasonable prices)

Also, people put framed photos of family/friends on the top of their bookshelves or on whatever shelf near the window they may have.

Plants? Ikea has great ones too...

PLANTS, PLANTS, PLANTS. I would have them everywhere. Then you also need a picture of your most favoritest friend ever, Sarah.

Gotta go for those metal balls on the thin clear strings that clank against each other. That's a MUST.

Really liking your blog, by the way. Good work, Counselor!

I would get a bunch of those really inspirational posters, the ones that come each with a breath-taking photo coupled with a clever little aspect of self-fulfillment. My favorites are Teamwork, Motivation, Perserverance, Respect, Integrity and Imagination. I only wish they sold one called "Sarcasm."

But seriously,
If I had to really give ideas, I would suggest that your office reflect you. If I could desribe you only in a few words over the many years I've known you, it would be "crisp", "sweet", and "organic". That means tight organization layered over deliberate choices you aesthetically wish to imply or suggest. In other words, I'm thinking diplomas on the wall, but your favorite flowers/colors on the desk and a personal item(s) on the desk or wall(s).

Damn Danny, that's some serious thought... slow work day? (Wait, you wrote that in the middle of the night. Insomnia?)

Also, "crisp," "sweet," and "organic" -- you make me sound like an apple.
