Starting Saturday, I will not have to go into work for 9 days straight. NINE DAYS. At least, that's the plan... I suppose I may have to do a little work from home (boo!) or I may have to come in that last Sunday, but I'm not thinking about that right now. For now, I am getting a full week off. And I so totally need it.
I guess work just ebbs and flows, you know? Last week was KRAZEEE... deadline after deadline after emergency after meeting after deadline. This week, pretty much just silent. I really wish there was a happy medium. I was drained beyond belief last week and then I just had so much fun stuff do over the weekend, I really wish I'd had an extra day off. I am a firm believer in taking the occasional personal day, but unfortunately that's just not possible with my current job.
TS and I went up to Baltimore on Friday to see Carla and Aaron where we ate Five Guys, made cookies (well, Carla and I did), played board games, and got drunk. (BTW, espresso vodka = AWESOME.) Saturday I did a little holiday shopping, baked a birthday cake for Nick, and went to my friend's annual holiday party where I ate tons of yummy food. Sunday I baked another batch of gingersnaps, cleaned up the apartment a bit, and had my friends over for a cookie party! Unfortunately, work and hangovers kidnapped three of the girls who were planning to come, but there were still four of us left. I had a great time eating my weight in cheese, onion dip, and cookies and hanging out with the girls. My kitchen is still covered in evidence of sugar cookie baking, but that'll be easy enough to clean up tonight. Then TS and I went over to our friends' place for pizza and to watch the Giants game (*sob*... seriously guys, you BROKE Tony Romo and you couldn't even beat him? He was even crying, for goodness sake!).
Oh, and on Saturday, I caught the mouse. What a sneaky little bugger. Luckily he couldn't get to any of the cabinets where I kept food, so he only was ever on the countertops. Still, ick. I brought him outside FAR from my apartment, so hopefully he never comes back.
