Rambling Randomness...

You know what day I can't wait for? Veterans Day. A day off in the middle of the week. It'll be fantastic.

I'm not used to being so busy. The past few weeks before this one have been super busy at work. This weekend (starting tonight, actually), a rotating group of friends is going to be staying with us... between 2 and 4 guests at any given time. We were out of town this past weekend (Minnesota, for a wedding), so we didn't get our usual cleaning and errands done. And, honestly, because TS was out of town for work the entire week before that, starting the previous Saturday, and I become a total lazy bastard when he's gone, I hadn't done any cleaning or much errands beyond making sure I had food to eat during the week. (Uhh... when he's gone I also eat like crap and forget to exercise. I really need to work on this willpower/motivation thing.) Oh, and that weekend, I went on a winery tour, to the D.C. Green Festival and apple picking.

Anyway, because I hadn't done anything productive around the house for a couple of weeks, we had to do some serious shopping and cleaning after work this week. Typically, my post-work schedule goes: snack, gym, dinner, shower, couch/TV, bed... so having to actually accomplish things after work just makes me feel very rushed, hectic, anxious. This was hampered by someone in the house (NOT ME) needing to work all these things around the ALCS games. Because Monday night's game went into extra innings, we didn't get to go grocery shopping as we planned (TJs closes at 9), so we only hit up Target and got home around 10:30. Tuesday, grocery shopping. Wednesday, clearing clutter (which also led to me reorganizing my closet and drawers and coming away with a bag for Goodwill). Tonight, dusting, vacuuming, floor washing, laundry, cleaning the bathroom.

I still have to go to the gym. And shower. And cook dinner. And clean the kitchen. And pick up our guests from the airport at 10:45p.m.

And I really want to make some pumpkin chocolate chip bread tonight, because damn it, having guests is a perfect excuse for baking.

I don't mean to sound so whiney... honestly. I like when work is busy. I enjoy traveling out of town. I love having house guests. I just need a breather, especially because the holiday season is suddenly barreling down the way and the next thing I know, it will be January. Having a random Wednesday off is just what I need.
