One of my resolutions for 2010 is to set and accomplish a monthly fitness goal. I am much better about following a regular workout schedule when I am actually training for something or otherwise set some sort of goal. I totally fell of the wagon in December -- I only worked out nine times all month! Some of that time off was due to a bad cold, but halfway through the month, I just could not get motivated to get back into a regular gym schedule. Considering December is a month full of sugary, rich food and caloric drinks (mmm, eggnog!), it was a terrible time to skip workouts.
In addition to my monthly fitness goals, three of my year long goals for 2010 are to run an 8:30 mile, run a half marathon, and get back to my law school graduation weight (meaning, lose 20 pounds). I hope to use these monthly fitness goals to help me reach these three year long goals. Originally, I was going to set January's goal to be to complete the 30 Day Shred within the month. (Yeah, I've said that before.) But I feel like that might be too much to start out with, and really I need to get back into the habit of regularly scheduled workouts first. So instead, my monthly fitness goal for January is to workout at least 4 times a week.
